The John E. Joy school community is dedicated to ensure each student has a foundation for college and career readiness. Dear John E. Joy Families,
As we celebrate Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you for your support and understanding throughout the year. This week is a special time for us to honor and recognize the hard work, dedication, and passion that our teachers, faculty, and staff bring to our school community every day. Your support plays a crucial role in creating a positive and nurturing environment for our students to learn and grow.
Our teachers, faculty, and staff go above and beyond to ensure that each student receives the best possible education and support. They dedicate countless hours to planning engaging lessons, providing individualized attention, and fostering a love of learning in our students. Their commitment to excellence is truly inspiring, and I am so grateful for everything they do. Thank you for joining me in celebrating and honoring our amazing teachers, faculty, and staff during this special week. Together, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of our students.
Please take note of the following essential dates and information:
BOGO Book Fair: April 30-May 3
Faculty and Staff Appreciation: April 29-May 3
NYS Grades 3-6 Math Exam: May 1 and May 2
PTG Meeting: May 7 at 5:30PM
6th Grade Panoramic Photo: May 14 and a rain date on May 15.
6th Grade T-Shirts: 6th Grade students will receive their T-Shirts when they take their panoramic photo.
NYS Grade 5 Science Exam: May 15
Half-Day: May 7 and 8.
On this day, dismissal is 12:40-12:45PM. Also, on all half days, we will not be serving breakfast to students and will only be serving lunch. Our goal is to have all buses loaded by 12:40 in order to dismiss the buses by 12:45PM.
For the Parent Pick-Up Door:
First Grade Students and their siblings will be dismissed from 12:25-12:30PM
Second and Third Grade Students and their siblings will be dismissed from 12:30-12:35PM
Kindergarten Students and their siblings will be dismissed from 12:35-12:40PM
Fourth through Sixth Grade Students will be dismissed from 12:40-12:45PM
Yearbook Order Date: Last day to order yearbooks is May 17. The PTG is covering the cost of the Grade 6 yearbooks. Thank you, PTG, for all you do for the students.
Memorial Day: School will be closed on May 27. Classes will resume on May 28.
Future Dates and Events: Details for each event will be distributed before the event date. Here are some upcoming events:
PTG Meeting: June 4 at 5:30PM.
Step-Up Ceremony: June 12.
Trimester III: Ends on June 17
Report cards will be available on June 25
Juneteenth: School will be closed on June 19. Classes will resume on June 20.
Fun Day: June 11; Rain date of June 20.
Ice Cream Social: June 24
Half-Day: June 14, June 21, and June 25 will be Half-Days.
